UPHA Is off to a Great Start in 2020!
The Advocacy Summit is Feb 26th. I had the pleasure of visiting the State Capitol for the UPHA sponsored legislative break. Our senators and representatives were very open and willing to learn about our priorities. One lawmaker asked who are members are. I was proud to say that our members are a wonderful and diverse group of public health professionals from a wide variety of agencies and organizations. I want to acknowledge the board members who have stepped up UPHA's advocacy game: Brittany Guerra, Carrie Butler, Christy Cushing, and Doreen Egan.
Mark your calendars for the annual Public Health Conference for Utah April 8-10th at the Provo Marriott. We also have an upcoming webinar from the Nutrition Section and a Community Health Workers event. CHWs embody the heart and soul of public health. I was honored to join in their recent bi-annual celebration of success and I truly enjoyed the display of cultural traditions through song and dance.
MemberClicks is here! Our efforts to update our membership system, led by Anna Dillingham, have been a great success. This is the time of year to renew and invite colleagues to join. See detailed membership information HERE. We hope you join us in 2020! - Sharon Talboys, UPHA Board President
