UPHA's first ever “legislative break” deemed a success!

What did we accomplish?

• UPHA leaders discussed ways in which our organization could assist legislators in advancing sound public health policy.

• UPHA leaders solicited support for HB196 Tobacco Tax Revisions and HB153 Recycling of Electronic Items and thanked legislators for voting down safety-weakening amendments to HB113 Child Restraints.

• UPHA leaders made contact with a majority of legislators and held many productive conversations. Even though not all legislators agreed with our positions, most were supportive of our priority bills.

• UPHA leaders agreed that we surpassed our goal that “All Capitol Hill staff will have a positive impression of UPHA and better understand how our organization can be of service to the residents of Utah."
